Smallpox

A dead disease is being resurrected. Now the media will have something exciting to talk about everyday and to frighten the benighted American public with. For whatever reason, the revivification of smallpox is certainly on the current agenda.
Not too long ago Fox News showed us a picture of a man who was covered with smallpox pustules on his arms, face, legs and abdomen. The pustules were big, black, ugly, scabby and closely compacted. He looked like he was a monster from some other world. It was enough to scare me, were it not for the fact that I know that it was drug treatment that caused that ugly picture and not the disease at all. The cause of those ugly marks was carbolic acid that had been used to kill the supposed germ that caused the eruptive rash.
Who are the terrorists? The pharmaceutical companies or the Taliban? Because of what the terrorists may or may not do, the pharmaceutical industry (the largest industry in the world), is gearing us up for mandatory vaccinations, especially for certain people in areas that may be targeted by the terrorists. The authorities claim that we will be safe from terrorists attacks using the pox virus because there are adequate stockpiles of cultivated smallpox viruses in Russia and in the USA to make most all the vaccines "needed."
It is claimed by medical historians that the vaccination process wiped out smallpox throughout the world. However, the truth is that compulsory vaccination was abandoned because more deaths were caused by the vaccinations than there were cases of smallpox. A slight of the hand trick was used to foster the claim that smallpox was eradicated by the vaccination practice. Everyone who had been vaccinated and who developed smallpox was diagnosed as having chicken pox!
The doctors who were interviewed on recent television shows admit that the vaccine may cause many serious side-effects and that a certain number of persons will develop painful and sometimes lethal sequelae. Yet, they advise that it is better to take the chance and be vaccinated in spite of these dangers.
Edward Jenner, a notorious fake and quack, is credited with having "discovered" vaccination. However, it was a practice of many ancient peoples long before his time. Savage and barbaric tribes in various parts of the world practiced inoculation even before Jenners time. It is conjectured to have begun in India and then spread to Africa and Europe. Lady Mary Wortley Montague, wife of the British Ambassador to the Ottoman Court in l7l7 introduced the practice to Europe. But, due to its proven evils, one of which was an increase in smallpox in England, the practice was abolished in l840.
It is pertinent that James Phipps, the eight year old boy vaccinated by Jenner in l896, died at the age of 20. He had been revaccinated twenty times. Jenners own son who had also been vaccinated more than once died at the young age of twenty-one. Both succumbed to tuberculosis, a condition that some researchers have linked to the smallpox vaccine. (Eleanor Mc Bean, The Poisoned Needle, 28,29,66 ).
According to the medical profession, smallpox or variola is an acute highly infectious and contagious disease characterized by a specific rash. According to past and present Natural Hygienic practitioners smallpox is primarily a disease brought about by gastrointestinal putrescence. Fermenting and rotting food in the intestinal tract enervates, and causes increased digestive impairment accompanied by increased systemic toxemia. The toxins are from the absorption of the fermentation products formed in the intestinal tract. Since those who overeat, especially on animal products, are enervated, meaning they lack normal nerve function, all the organs of elimination are functioning on a lower physiological level and greater toxicity ensues. Toxins from decomposing animal foods are highly irritating, so the body has to get rid of them quickly and must use extraordinary means since the organs of elimination are not functioning well. Therefore, the poisons are carried by the blood to the skin and the body eliminates them in various forms of skin eruptions.
Smallpox is about as contagious as stumbling over a rock. Dr. Herbert M. Shelton slept in the same bed with his brother while the latter was in the so-called infectious stage with vesicles all over. Yet Dr. Shelton did not develop smallpox.
Smallpox begins with the same symptoms that many acute diseases do; such as chills, fever, backache, and vomiting. This is indicative of a common cause and a common way to deal with the cause. The body is a magnificent ecosystem and when it finds abnormal and extraneous substances anywhere within its domain, it creates a higher temperature, purposely, to overcome the foreign proteins, toxic substances, viruses, bacteria or other microorganisms. Whatever is upsetting the ecosystem must be corrected by the organism itself. It needs no alien "cures." The symptoms should not be "cured." To suppress these symptoms assures that some other worse problem will develop.
Some substances, such as an excess of protein putrefactive products, are so toxic that it is urgent to eliminate them immediately. The papular eruption of smallpox is purposely created and chosen as the correct channel at the time for the elimination of these types of noxious substances. Furthermore, the body may not have the specific enzymes to biodegrade whatever it is. Instead of being taken care of by the liver or the kidneys the body chooses to eject them through the skin. Vicarious eliminations such as this are often natural emergency measures.
Smallpox begins with chills, fever, backache, headache and vomiting. A fever of l03 to l04 degrees F is customary. The high fever increases the healing activities of the cells, and it is a most efficient way to accomplish the needed detoxification. This means that the toxins are now out of the functioning cells and in the blood near the skin. The body no longer needs to speed up cellular metabolism in order to cast out the extraneous substances and the fever subsides. In about two days the fever, and other symptoms subside. This is when the inflammatory rash appears. It turns into an elevation of the skin called a papule. The blister becomes dimpled or umbilicated. The rash and the development of the papules indicate that the irritants or toxic substances have been removed by the hyperactive, feverish cells and carried to the skin to be cast out.
Next the little papules become vesicles, like a blister, except that each papule has a little dimple in it. This is the so-called stage that is supposed to be infective or contagious, should anyone touch the person having smallpox. After the vesicles are formed, they may become pustules filled with white blood cells if the individual is extra toxic. The white blood cells are there to destroy the toxins in the vesicles. But, this stage would never be reached if cared for Hygienically. The papules dry up and form scabs that eventually fall off. When treated improperly they will leave a scar.
It is pertinent to recognize that when the eruption begins, the fever subsides. The patient would normally be on the road to recovery were it not for the medications given by the doctor. Medical treatment however, consists in using something that kills the microbes which they assume cause the rash, so it has to be something such as a disinfectant that destroys cell life. This is consistent with their medical dogma. Therefore, in the past, the profession applied gauze that had been soaked in antiseptic solutions such as phenol (carbolic acid) or bichloride of mercury ( aka mercuric chloride and corrosive sublimate). Both these agents, carbolic acid and mercuric chloride are corrosive.
After applying the gauze, soaked in either carbolic acid or mercuric chloride, to the lesions, they were covered with more gauze. Being tightly wrapped with gauze, the exudate from the vesicle or papule was retained in the lesion and not allowed to drain away when it ruptured. Naturally, bacteria are going to invade this lesion to clean up the excreted matter. This corrosive treatment also destroyed living tissues including the protective phagocytic white blood cells and the surrounding skin and subcutaneous tissues. A high second fever was urgently needed to once again begin warfare on the extraneous poisons and the invading bacteria.
Either of the two corrosive drugs used can now ooze its way into the vital domain and impede normal function of all the cells in the body; while completely annihilating many. Ugly black confluent pustules mar the skin. The rash gets worse. Vesicles turn into pustules. The pustules become swollen and more inflamed. The inflammation around them spreads and the lesions fuse together. These pathological effects were caused by the drugs.
It is clear that the condition worsens because of the treatment. The primary symptoms, i.e. the fever, chills, headache, and backache were suppressed by pharmaceuticals. The stifling of symptoms with medication prevented the body from completing its job of cleansing, and increased the internal toxemia. As a result, the umbilicated blisters with clear fluid in them became pustules filled with dead and dying tissues and white blood cells. The change to a pustule is the direct result of the damaging effects of medications whether taken internally or applied to the skin. It is incredible that the physicians did not recognize the lethality of their practice. But, then, they do not recognize it today either. They are blinded by bygone theories.
These substances may have killed microorganisms but they also killed human tissues and in reality caused the pustules and all the terrible complications and symptoms thought to be caused by the germ. Let me emphasize, the symptoms thought to be smallpox are symptoms caused by the treatment. They were so yesterday just as they are today and always will be in the future as long as we insist on clinging to the idea that disease is something "caught" and that symptoms must be gotten rid of by unnatural means. As long as we try to eradicate disease with anything, and especially man-made chemicals, we will suffer more than if we merely put up with the symptoms.
All the various treatments to kill microbes which are "causing" the disease, are killing the patient. They are not permitting the body to eliminate toxins or restore the blood and tissues to their normal healthy condition. All treatments, no matter how benign they are claimed to be, impede the recovery process itself. By using treatments of any kind and getting rid of a rash by rash means, or to doctor it in any way, is the disastrous blunder that causes horrible side-effects, more disease and even death.
Hemorrhagic or what is known as "black smallpox" is an even more serious type of smallpox and the patient often died. Again, this serious type of smallpox was directly caused by the cell-killing drugs. Pustules often developed in the throat and mouth. When an acidic drug is placed on living tissues, it kills them. The skin and mucous membranes are already inflamed and are less protective than normal skin. Therefore, the destructive acids can be absorbed and cause greater internal toxemia. Carbolic acid or mercuric chloride caused the hemorrhaging of the skin and also hemorrhaging into the pustule. Either of the corrosive drugs also destroyed the kidney cells and caused bloody urine noted in many hapless smallpox patients.
There were also many serious complications of this type of treatment in addition to the common ordinary ones that were erroneously thought to be symptoms of smallpox, but we wont go into them now.
From time immemorial people have been frightened of disease. It was a curse, an evil spirit, or evil demon that caused the problem. Also from time immemorial people have thought it necessary to exorcize the disease, to placate and appease the evil spirit or demon, to give sacrifices to some god in order to get the demon or evil spirit out of them. In modern times we do the same. We have not grown in knowledge. We just put the evil spirits in the magicians top hat and pulled out the evil germs and evil viruses. We still exorcize, placate, appease, and eradicate the evil microbe or evil virus. Whatever symptoms we have, they are felt to be extraneous, foreign and not from us, so they must be eradicated or extirpated. We still fear death from the simplest of diseases. Whatever it is, it must be extirpated or eradicated. We do it not with incantations but with substances much more evil than anything used in the past.
Hygienic Care
If Hygienic care had been resorted to in the beginning of smallpox no complications would have occurred and there would rarely be a genuine pustule. With Hygienic management the disease would not have to progress to the second stage with pustules or a second fever. It would only become pustular if the individual prevented drainage of the vesicle and continued eating a heavy diet. The vesicles containing the unwanted debris that was in the organs and tissues would burst. The clear fluid containing the toxic substances would flow out onto the skin. Frequent warm sponge baths would wash away all the poisonous debris. The inflammation of the skin would heal and that would be the end of the disease. There would be no horrendous pustules, or other complications brought about by the medications. If individuals kept themselves clean, but did not take off the scabs until they fell off naturally, there would be no unsightly pockmarks. People are always too anxious to pull scabs away. To do so is to expose the lesion to the atmosphere before the skin has completely healed below it. The skin then has to quickly heal over before it has completed restoring the underlying tissues. This, naturally leaves a pit or scar. The extensive boils and gangrene that regularly occurred would not have taken place had no corrosive drugs been used.
If you think those symptoms are bad, and that we do not use any medicine so lethal as corrosive sublimate and carbolic acid today, youd better rethink the problem. Todays drugs are even more lethal because they are designed to be easily absorbed, and to spread to every tissue and cell in the body and kill cells all over the body. Do not put your hope in medical "care". The only care you need is a healthy body and to let it do its thing.
You do not have to fear smallpox, even if you should develop it, as long as you immediately quit eating and go to bed and rest, drinking pure water only when thirsty. Smallpox is a disease of the bon-vivant, epicurean, who overeats on a daily basis, especially on animal foods. The condition of enervation is built by anyone who does not secure sufficient rest and sleep to permit the elimination of endogenic and exogenic toxins, and for the restoration of the nervous system. Once the stage of enervation is established digestion is further impaired and the body is flooded with fermentation and decomposition products from the intestines. This is what is called Toxemia, and Toxicosis. Toxicosis makes it exigent and imperative that these toxins be eliminated immediately by extraordinary means, such as through the skin.
Every single cell in your body is capable of eliminating and destroying various microorganisms and their waste products, as well as man-made organic products, but most man-made products are more toxic than those made by bacteria and they cause more damage than bacterial waste products. It can be disastrous when the body is overwhelmed by substances that do not belong inside it, and which the body cannot use under any circumstance of life. And this is what happens when diseases are "treated." Your body is inundated with toxic substances and it may drown.

SLEEP and REST: MANDATORY FOR YOUR HEALTH

* Especially important is that brain chemistry and hormonal levels are intricately balanced during sleep. There is no substitute.
* Popular stimulants such as caffeine, certain herbs and so on actually rob you of energy and make it much harder to recover normal energy balance and reserves.
What Does Sleep Do For Me?
Sleep! Our most potent regenerator. Without sleep, you'll go crazy. Literally. Have you ever gone without sleep for an extended period? Not only does your body shut down, but so does your mind. Thinking ability rapidly declines and emotional states fly all over the place. You are a mess without enough sleep! And when you can't sleep at night, you crave it more than any precious gem. When you are awake and active, you are expending energy. When you are asleep you are rebuilding it.
During sleep, your body repairs itself and reenergizes itself from all the energy expenditures of the previous day. During sleep, your body is recharging its batteries, repairing tissues, healing any damaged areas, restocking cells with nutrients, eliminating wastes and replacing old, worn out cells at twice the rate as when we are awake.
Incredible feats of rebalancing occur while sleeping. Dozens of different chemicals in your brain and nervous system are rebalanced through deep levels (delta) and shallow levels (REM-dreaming) of sleep. Pulse rate, blood pressure and temperature rise and fall as necessary for tissue healing and rejuvenation. Hormone levels are rebalanced; sexual responses rise and fall. On and on it goes.
What Happens When I Don't Get Enough Sleep?
Then you are tired! Simple enough, isn't it? And yet one of the most common complaints is that people are tired all the time. Chronic Fatigue is a syndrome that is growing exponentially in our culture. Regardless of your daily commitments, the simple fact is that if you don't sleep and rest as much as your body needs, then you will start to prematurely break down and you will be tired all the time.
If you deprive yourself of some sleep each night, then your body and mind cannot complete all the rebalancing and rejuvenation it wanted to do. You have terminated the rebuilding process before it was done. It's like still being hungry but someone keeps taking your food away from you. Eventually you are constantly hungry and low on energy and nutrients. The same process applies to lack of sleep.
When constantly deprived, even a little bit, all sorts of problems arise. Your immune system's ability to fight off pathogens is knocked down by as much as 25%. Trillions of the cells that make up your body, each attempting to conduct billions of chemical and electrical processes have to struggle to get the energy necessary for them to operate. Due to lack of sleep and rest, there is only so much energy to go around, and some functions of your body suffer and decline. Over time, you definitely set the stage for chronic degenerative disease.
What Happens When I Take Stimulants Like Coffee?
The biggest error is to think that you are getting energy from stimulants. With stimulants there is actually no energy to give . All they do is force your body to give up some of the small amount of energy it has left. What really happens is that your body responds to the presence of these toxic substances by stepping up its metabolism in order to most rapidly get rid of them, for they are injuring your tissues and cells. Because they are toxic, your body wants to eliminate them as soon as possible, and the more toxic it is, the stronger your body will attempt to expel it. In the case of caffeine, we know that it strongly irritates the digestive tract, the nervous system, the cardiovascular system and the hormonal system.
So in order to expel it quickly, your body revs up your blood pressure and pulse rate, your kidneys are kicked into high gear, often there is a laxative/diarrhea effect and your nervous system is hypersensitive. All these responses are the effects of a body in danger. These are the responses of a body trying to eliminate a poisonous material as fast as it can. If you continue to take in these stimulants, eventually your body gives up and just tries to adapt to the poisons as best it can. But the damage is still going on. And after the stimulation is over, your energy crashes and you feel like you need more stimulation. So goes the addiction of stimulants. You are quite literally addicted to a drug, just as with illegal drugs. Only this one is legal and millions do it. Your body is really crying out for rest and sleep, so listen to it! Your rewards will be higher sustained energy, better sleep, a clearer mind and balanced emotions.
What About Rest? Is That Different From Sleep?
Yes. Periodically resting throughout the day is essential to remaining alert, aware and on top of your game. There are several ways to rest best:
Physical rest - ceasing physical activity. Sitting or lying down to rest your muscles.
Sensory rest - ceasing sensory input, such as sight, hearing, smelling, etc. It takes a large amount of energy for your brain to process incoming sights and sounds. The most simple thing to do is to relax in a quiet area and close your eyes.
Emotional rest - ceasing extraneous emotional challenges. Interacting with people can sometimes engage all sorts of energies and emotions. If imbalanced, this will be a great drain on your energy. Emotional rest is best achieved by taking a bit of time alone.
Mental rest - ceasing mental activities. Challenging our intellect is stimulating but also energy depleting. Detaching from mental demands allows your mind to rest. One way to relax the mind is to engage in simple, routine tasks that allow your mind to be at ease. The best way is to meditate, which will progressively teach you to relax and still your mind whenever you desire.
Sometimes you may not secure enough sleep for yourself on any given night. When you notice the effects of inadequate sleep, be sure to take time and rest throughout the day. Even five minutes here and there helps a lot. Of course, if at all possible, take a nap! Resting and napping IS NOT LAZINESS! Break the chains of those stupid notions. Resting and napping is truly intelligent use of your time.
What Ae the Best Conditions For the Best Sleep?
Ideally, you want your surroundings as quiet, comfortable and dark as possible. Also try to have fresh air available at all times. Get the best bed and pillow you can find. Make sure that it is very quiet and dark so as to get maximum rest. If circumstances are that there is noise and/or light that you cannot eliminate, then get yourself comfortable earplugs and an eye mask. Wear them! You want to get maximum sleep and rejuvenation. You are worth it!

Passage to Personal Integrity

As we pass from 2002 into the endless possibilities of 2003 we are provided with a wonderful opportunity to evaluate our lives and set personal goals. I acknowledge and respect that not everyone shares the view that January 1st represents the beginning of a new year. It is, however, a popular paradigm and comes at a time in the seasons conducive to the pursuit of personal empowerment. At this time of year nature sleeps in stillness gathering her energies for the birth of springtime creations. By allowing ourselves to join her in this preparatory phase we too may discover great richness in reflective evaluation.
"Personal navigation" is the name I have given to the conscious management of one's passage through life. It is easy to get so caught up in the frenetic pace of human existence that insufficient time is spent in reflection and evaluation. The simple habit of pausing before taking action is vital if we are to live lives of integrity.
Moment by moment every day we make decisions, some we make automatically, others we consciously implement. We make decisions about what to wear, what to eat, how to move, when to sleep, how to respond to others and a whole host of other seemingly minor issues. Most of these daily decisions appear innocuous at first glance. However, the accumulated effects over a period of time shape our lives in profound ways. It is a rare person who can honestly state that all of their regular habits are 100% congruent with their goals. What I offer you here is a simple way of beginning to take a firmer hold on the helm of your own life. It is a method I have used myself during many past Decembers and one that I have found to be of great value by prompting the initiation of constructive action.
1. Settle yourself comfortably somewhere where you will not be disturbed for about 30 minutes
2. Divide a clean sheet of paper in half vertically
3. At the top of the left half write " Habits and Energy Investments I Want LESS of in My Life"
4. At the top of the right half write "Habits and Energy Investments I Want MORE of in My Life"
5. Then proceed to list as many things as you can think of under the appropriate heading as they come to mind, in no particular order of priority
6. Now go back and see if anything in the left column is an obvious match with something in the right column (such as more time reading versus less time spent watching TV). Pair off as many as you can.
7. Now go back as prioritize the top three issues in the right column and the top three in the left column. These are the ones to begin working on bringing about change.
Change, however, requires more than awareness of the desired outcome. In order for things to change a strategy is needed. Not every step of your strategy may be apparent upon first investigation. The important thing is to identify and implement the first action you need to take. Often once the intention has been set, a commitment made and an initial action taken then the following steps are divinely revealed to us. I advise you to keep your lists from year to year as a map to the land of personal integrity as it is there that lifes greatest treasure is to be found.
So I bid you a joyous departure from the past year, whenever you choose to perceive that to be, and an entry into the creation of spring with the empowering knowledge that you are, indeed, at the helm of your life.

Nutrients: Are You Getting Enough?
12 Simple Guidelines For the Concerned Raw Fooder

1. Perfect your caloronutrient ratio, direct it towards 80/10/10.
There are only three caloronutrients, protein fat and carbohydrate. Protein consumption does not vary appreciably from diet to diet. Therefore, the more fat you consume, the less carbohydrates you consume. Worldwide, RDAs for carbohydrate range from 65-75% of total calories. The average raw fooder consumes only about 20% of their total calories as carbohydrates, most of this from fruit.
The under consumption of carbohydrates and over consumption of fats leads to a host of health problems. Leading the list are candida, diabetes, hypoglycemia, chronic fatigue, heart disease and cancer. Most of the so-called sugar metabolic disorders are actually the symptoms of the over consumption of fats.
2. More is not better.
Nutrients are found in the body in specific quantitative relationships to other nutrients. Calcium, for example, is present in a 2/1 relationship with phosphorus. Consuming more of a specific nutrient, or consistently eating foods that are overly high in that nutrient will reliably lead to an imbalance.
We are designed like Goldilocks, we thrive when the nutritional ratios are "just right". When it comes to nutrients, too much is just as much a problem as too little. The optimum foods for us, nutritionally, are those foods whose nutrient content most closely mimic our nutrient needs. In every category of nutrition, fruit come closest to meeting those needs.
3. Supplements do not supplement, rather, they foster nutritional imbalances.
Except in the instance of severe and specific nutritional deficiency, chemical isolates, generally recognized as pharmaceutical quality drugs, always create even further nutritional imbalances than the ones they supposedly remedy.
The approach known as "better living through chemistry" has failed us consistently, every time it has been tried. On a healthy low fat raw vegan diet, supplements are not necessary. Supplements will not make up for the nutritional insufficiencies we experience when eating a less than optimal diet because those insufficiencies are broad spectrum and supplements are relatively specific. It is always better to correct the diet than it is to attempt to supplement or remedy it.
4. Superfoods are not really super.
Dehydrated foods, especially those that have been powdered, undergo the deleterious impact of extensive oxidation and other heat related nutritive losses, such as the transformation of the viable form of b-12 into its unusable analog form.
When minute quantities of any substance result in profound shifts in energy, we are dealing with a stimulant. Stimulants actually result in a release of vital reserves, hence ultimately draining vitality. Foods that are not in scale with human consumption, (the relative size relationship between us and our foods) or that must be packaged in bottles, boxes, cans, or bags, are not really super, but appeal to our superficial consumer mentality. Foods that cannot be eaten as a complete meal should automatically suspect in human nutrition
5. Ripen fruits fully, do not rush them.
Ripe fruits yield the optimal nutrients per calorie. As many nutrients do not become fully available in fruit until it undergoes the final stages of ripening, the consumption of ripe foods is an important consideration when one aspires to optimum nutrition.
Learning about fruit is a pleasant pastime. Learn the names of the various fruit varieties that are available to you. Catalogue when each variety comes into season, which ones ripen after picking, and other interesting facts about each fruit. Become a connoisseur of fruit, and, as the old saying goes, "eat no fruit before its time".
6. Cooked foods are junk foods and supply only empty calories.
The nutrient losses associated with cooking are so extreme as to be unnecessary to list in this short article. Suffice it to say that proteins, fats and carbohydrates all degrade under the heat of cooking into toxic matter. Enzymes, coenzymes, and most vitamins are destroyed by heat. Antioxidants, phytonutrients, and minerals are damaged, as is fiber. Even water is lost in the cooking process. Nutritionally, there are no benefits to cooking wholesome raw foods. Empty calories are those from protein, fat, or carbohydrates, without their full nutrient package intact. Junk foods are generally thought of as refined foods that are missing vital nutritional elements. Oils, juices, (both lack fiber) dehydrates (lacks water), and other refined foods certainly fall into these categories.
7. Panic if it isnt organic.
The nutritional impact of herbicide, fungicide, pesticide, rodenticide, and other "cides" upon food has repeatedly been shown to be negative, deadly in fact. The consumption of these "cides" has also been shown to have a nutritionally damaging impact upon us. Organic food is always the best choice nutritionally, when all other factors are equal.
Scientists tell us that there has been life on earth for six billion years. We have been experimenting with toxic chemicals on our food for about sixty years. If you had to bet your life, and the lives of all people on earth, which would you choose, the system that had succeeded for 99.000,000% of time, or the one that had created such doubt about its efficacy over the last .000,0001% of time?
8. Plants perfectly meet all our needs: nutritional, spiritual, emotional, environmental, ecological and ethical.
Every nutrient known to be needed by humans is available to us from the consumption of plants. There are no nutrients necessary to humans that can be obtained from animal foods that cannot also be obtained from plants. Nutritionally, all plant foods contain all nutrients, they are simply in different proportions in different plants.
Have you ever looked at a field of cows and found your mouth watering? Have you ever felt compassion for a helpless animal? Are you aware of the environmental, ecological and ethical nightmares that are the results of the various animal industries? Have you ever felt a closeness to the earth, or a spiritual connection with G-d when you were nurturing plants?
9. Simplicity is the key to good digestion.
Good digestion is critical to ideal nutrition. We can only absorb and assimilate that which we can digest. Simplicity at each mealtime best facilitates optimum digestion. Reduction of the number of courses in the meal, as well as the number of ingredients in each dish, both enhance digestive quality.
If a meal has more than five ingredients, or takes more than five minutes to prepare, you are probably working too hard at creating the meal, and will likely suffer compromised digestion. Start from where you are comfortable (ex: ten ingredients, ten minutes) and work towards eventually using only one ingredient, one minute.
10. Variety in your diet best ensures optimum nutrition.
Nutritional sufficiency is best guaranteed through the consumption of a wide variety of foods. Fortunately, Nature provides such variety during the course of each year. Over 200 different fruits and over 50 vegetables are readily available at some point during the year in most places. Take advantage as each food comes into season in order to access the most variety, ultimate freshness, and lowest cost.
Variety throughout the year coupled with simplicity at mealtimes creates the ideal situation for optimum nutrition. We have the ability to store most of our nutrients for long periods of time, and even to recycle many of them. The ebb and flow of the seasons bring foods to us that best matches and fills our nutritional needs.
11. Develop the mono meal habit.
Single course mono meals provide the obvious ultimate goal for perfect digestion and nutrition. Almost all creatures eat mono meals when living naturally. The concept of eating "one food at a time, when hungry, until full" makes sense on many levels. Simply waiting for hunger to arrive is a wise move in optimizing digestion, absorption, and assimilation; all critical factors in good nutrition. Overeating also results in compromised digestion. Variety of food choices is commonly a huge factor that results in overeating. The easiest method for avoiding overeating is to reduce the stimulation of variety by choosing mono meals.
Mono meals provide a satiation that cannot be matched by complex meals. They allow us to fully and realistically get in touch with our hunger, and to finally come to appreciate the healthful reasons for eating. Experiment with the mono meal program by including a few mono meals into every week. As you come to like the results, you can gradually increase the number of mono meals you consume each week. Your state of nutrition will improve and you will develop superior overall health.
12. Fitness matters.
Physical activity is one of the key requirements to good nutrition. Without sufficient physical activity, peristalsis of the intestines is not as efficient. Physical activity utilizes blood sugar, making for healthier blood sugar metabolism. It also greatly accelerates blood circulation and lymphatic flow, enhancing protein and fat metabolism while better bringing nutrients to their final destination. The vasodilation that accompanies physical activity also enhances nutrient delivery.
There is another aspect of fitness worthy of serious consideration. Athletes use, hence they consume, considerably more fuel (calories) than the average person, for two reasons. The first is that their higher activity levels require additional fuel consumption. The second is that fit folks usually carry more muscle mass than their sedentary counterparts, and their muscle tissue requires more fuel than any tissue other than nerves. By eating more food, active people consume more calories, and along with those extra calories come additional essential nutrients: enzymes, coenzymes, antioxidants, phytonutrients, vitamins, minerals, fiber, and even water. It is easier for a fit person to be nutritionally sound because they take in more nutrients. This may be one of the most powerful arguments for becoming fit: fit people can more easily become well nourished than sedentary people, and they get to eat more food.
There Is No Substitute For Healthful Living
Each of these steps is beneficial in the pursuit of health and optimum nutrition. The low fat raw vegan approach, accomplished by the consumption of whole, fresh, ripe raw organic plants is the most nutritious method of eating. Couple this with simplicity at mealtimes, diversity in your diet, the implementation of frequent mono meals and a regular fitness program and you have the makings of a regimen that will bring you to the pinnacle of good nutrition.

Today's nutritional health books are overloaded with scientific jargon, research studies, and extensive tabular charts of food analyzed into vitamins, minerals, enzymes, coenzymes, etc., and each year these proliferating lists lengthen and swell. Though designed to dazzle us and perhaps put us in awe of the advances in scientific analysis, when we set them aside we usually find ourselves confused, befuddled, and adrift in their excess of information. However, the basic, fundamental principles of natural health and nutrition, which any reasonable person can easily and quickly comprehend are, more often then not, glaringly and unfortunately left untold.
Knowing which enzymes, vitamins, or minerals do what won't help you preserve your naturally given regenerative powers half an iota if you don't fully understand the basic principles of nutritional health, and it was the early pioneers, Ehert, Hazzard, Shelton, and later T. C. Fry, who set out those basics in such an amazingly perspicacious manner for all to easily understand. Few, if any writers since then have been able to tell it more clearly. Theirs is a vibrant and forceful message based on an astoundingly clear vision and understanding of the holistic workings of the human organism within and without -- from the cellular level all the way to its most cosmic vibrational interrelationships. Their vision was, both for their time and ours, incredibly broad, revolutionary and mind expanding to say the least, forever changing the way we think about the principles of good health, regeneration and vitality.
Aside from the clear understandings they provided, it is their "poetry of impassioned language" that makes them the true Titans in the natural health movement. Their writings hold the power to turn the reader's mind inside out, thus exploding our conditioned thinking about our bodies and how they function. One reads such books and the lights go on and there's a resounding, reverberating, "yes, yes yes", which can be attributed to their astounding clarity of mind, their ability to wield Manjusri's mighty sword of truth. Your Natural Diet: Alive Raw Foods by T. C. Fry & David Klein is clearly in this class of books. For someone hankering for vibrant natural health it's a must read. It's alive, it radiates light.
